Stellar USA provides live telephone captions for the hearing impaired. Through this service, people who suffer from hearing loss are able to read what is being said during their phone conversation. Captioning Agents need 100% focus while listening to phone call conversations in real time, while quickly and promptly providing live captions for these calls.

I joined Stellar in May of 2016 after a friend suggested it would be a good job to have temporarily as I looked for other opportunities. What I thought would be a short term stint became a long term job for me, as I found the work rewarding as well as fulfilling. I know the work that I do makes a difference in the everyday lives of so many. The instant gratification coupled with having real-time feedback on my contributions keeps me focused.
Initially I struggled with captioning —I even failed training my first week. Stellar worked with me as they could see I was putting forth the effort into trying to improve when I know other companies may not have given me this consideration.
The relaxed atmosphere at Stellar makes coming to work enjoyable and the people you meet here are very friendly and in the same stage of life. Management has always been available to help me with any questions that I may have, while simultaneously ensuring that I am not micromanaged. Stellar's people: meet Quiana
I was a little nervous when I started at Stellar, because I was always taught to not talk while someone else is talking. This was a new company that I had never heard of, until I came to apply and left with a start date. Once on the team, I quickly felt welcomed, appreciated, and well-informed. I owe my trainer for not blowing up on me with all my questions and worries! But one thing he said to me stuck and I’ve been in my groove ever since. He told me “Don’t take it personal. Keep it moving.” Those simple words mean a lot. Once I put those few words into play, there was no stopping me. And I make sure that when I'm training people now that I pass that valuable information along — and hope it helps the person as much as it helped me.
There was a great crew to support me, including my trainer, and that’s what contributed a huge part in the knowledge and techniques I have. I wasn’t afraid to ask any questions about anything. There are so many things to know and learn, which I feel even after being here a year. At first, it was just a job to me. But I began to think, “What if those were my parents/grandparents/family that I was captioning for?” From that day I try my best on all calls as if it were the first for the day.
I have indeed contemplated on doing a little more than being an agent lately. I know there is room to move up and into a more advanced role, as I have learned in the research I did about the company as well as the client. I could really see myself here long-term doing different things, cross-training in different positions, and even just being someone to motivate a person who may think it’s too hard for them. It’s a piece of cake, especially when you have a great management team behind you to put the icing on.
